Hands holding the HeartBeam recorder and the patient app

HeartBeam

Designing an at-home ECG experience for patients and healthcare providers.

HeartBeam is an at-home ECG recorder. We designed their patient-facing mobile app, reader service app, clinician portal, and packaging.

Designing the system

HeartBeam connects three products for three different users: patients recording an ECG, readers reviewing it, and clinicians using that data alongside the patient’s medical history to make more informed care decisions. We designed the patient app, reader service app, and clinician portal to support each role while keeping the entire experience connected.

Reviewing ECGs on a phone

The reader service app was designed for quick ECG reviews on the go, while still giving cardiologists access to detailed recordings and the ability to compare them with previous ECGs.

Seeing beyond a single ECG

The clinician portal brings a patient’s ECG history, reports, and key details together in one place, making it easier to move between the broader clinical picture and individual recordings when making care decisions.

Helping patients get started, right out of the box

We treated unboxing as part of setup, considering how the contents introduce the device and lead patients into the app.
